Affirmations, on the other hand, involve repeating positive statements to oneself to promote positivity and confidence. Affirmations can help mothers to stay focused and positive during labor, and can also help to reduce fear and anxiety.


For example, a mother might use the affirmation, "My body is strong and capable of giving birth naturally," or "I am calm, relaxed, and in control."

To practice visualizations and affirmations, sit comfortably and close your eyes. Visualize a positive birth experience, such as a peaceful and calm environment, or imagine holding your newborn baby for the first time.
